Any Ideas For MYP Personal Project?

The Middle Years Programme (commonly abbreviated to MYP) allows teenagers to indulge in some creative licence and pursue their interests during their education. Even though it may seem like the projects are fun, interesting and nothing to do with educational development, these initiatives really do bring something to the table in the way of key skills that will make kids employable in the future.

For example, let’s say that you are a girl and that you decide to throw an elaborate fashion show in the school hall. It’s understandable that you will need excellent teamwork and communication skills so you can convey what you are looking for. In addition, when problems arise because there is a model off sick or there’s another problem, your ability to solve issues that appear will shine through. After all, if everything went plain sailing, that would be too easy!

In addition, mathematics does come into everything. When you are measuring dresses or timing the sequences for the programme, you will be applying number in a variety of different ways. Meanwhile, if you’re wondering how you can flaunt your IT skills, doing the marketing materials and creating posters that will publicise your talent will be perfect.

MYPs are a great way to develop as a well-rounded individual. It’s an important part of the year for many teenagers, and all of the key skills associated with this module can be implemented into a variety of different projects. If you’re looking for ideas, be sure to ask your tutor.

Do Something about the World. You can never go wrong if you include social themes, and especially in International Baccalaureate program.
Try not to do something that is over done like AIDS or Disease. If you are, make it a very interesting.
Also, choose something you will enjoy and not something you will get bored with in less than a week.
Once you do choose it, get to work! Do NOT PROCRASTINATE!!! SERIOUSLY. Finish before everybody else, and sit back, watch everyone scramble to finish their projects. It is hilarious.

I'm having the same problem haha....you could do a science experiment, write a short story, compose a piece of music, make some food item from your country, design clothing, write an essay on some important event, build something, investigate current political/social/ethical issues, the affects of some inventions on society....yeah, a lot of stuff, but it doesn't really help because you still don't know WHAT you WANT to do. But I guess the most important thing is that its something you enjoy and something that tells other people something about yourself. It should be something that allows you to express your feelings towards and your understanding of a particular topic as well as allowing you to use your talents and abilities to the fullest extent....hope that helped :-)

How about making a website? I saw a student did a blood donation website and he got full marks too...hmm...I'm thinking about a website about cooking because I'm not interested with blood donation ^^"

I'm really into photography, so I'm making a book about Exploring different cultures through photography. Photos speak more than words, right? Just an idea! :) You should do something you like, if not then just choose a random topic and you may end-up finding something. Mind maps help too, just even make one about yourself and go from that about what you can do.

If you like music, you can have a recital and perform your own songs. Then you can ask people to donate some money to help others.
If you like arts and photography, why not an exhibition? That will be cool...

I painted a picture of seasons of my life and displayed all my sports. A lot of people I knew painted or drew something important to them. We all got a 7/7 because it showed who we were. You could also write a song :)

I wrote a guidebook to teenagers
I believe teenagers should get their provacy and it is embbarrassing to ask parents about things such as that so a guidebook would give you both advice and privacy as you read and share your thoughts with the book itself
I am a good writer a good advice giver so I thought I should do that and since teenagers are usually known as trouble makers, this book would also give adults a perspective about how the teenager of TODAY is differentthat in the 70' s or whatever.

My personal project showcase is next week and because of my book that I wrote for the last 9 months, I got a 6/7!
It doesnt depend on the title or type, its more of the Written statement and how you organize it.

Do a project on the body! There are LOADS of resources for that and you can get little model skeletons to help you in presentations, that's what I'm doing...

Oh my god me to. I have the same problem. I checked over these ideas here but they don't really help much... I was thinking about making a photo book and taking the pictures myself but I'm not sure yet... And suggestions about this idea? Would it be a good one?

Make a walk for kids, like the relay for life, but its called something like kids helping kids. And people pay to enroll and they can get a shirt or something then all the money can go to a foundation or a childrens hospital.

I'm going to the same think as you. I have no clue in what to do. I love to write really, but I don't think they would let me write a book, I also love to take pictures but I don't know  from what I should take pictures of.

I'm in 8th grade too and I have to decide soon. So far I've got five ideas. If your good at photography, you could make a photo album on a theme that interests you. I like writing, so I might write a short story, or you could design clothes, jewellery or shoes. You could also write your own song and record it on a Cd and make a cover for it. I also have a question. Is it ok if you make just an album of designs of shoes, clothes and jewellery, even if you don't actually make the designs in real life?

God please!! I can't think about anything I don't know what to do I have 28days left.. If I want to write a short story what can it be about my self or earth, electricity or what!? What is this I can't ddo it. What can my website be about!!?? This is complicated this whole thing... Please help me!

I don't understand how to make an interest into a full out project. I like camping and nature and the spiritual side of it - how would that be a project?

I think you should make a process journal with all the rubrics and things to write about, and get your school to make them every year for 10th graders

I teach soccer for the beginner and put them on a competition, And they win.. The money that I got.. I sent it to the poor people for charity. And I got 7 !! (Hope it truly happens next March)

What about filming a movie on IB student life? I'm a middle school student but I just got accepted into IB (!!!) so I'm thinking about my personal project too.

Well, at my MYP school this year a girl was designing jewelry, some people were doing photo exhibitions, some gadgets connected with our city like educational games for kids... The best project I saw during my MYP was one of the first - a girl made an album about Dubai... People also make movies and community and service research. Myself, I have around 2 weeks to find a supervisor and tell him or her about my general idea...Athbah, thanks for sharing the idea, I guess I might use it. And everybody - what my teachers keep telling us - it's not only the project, it's how we describe it. And whet I observed during presentations - it's not only the project, it's also how you present it. And at my school cute boys tend to get the prize for the best presentation because all these little girls vote for them because 'they're so kissable...'

I love modeling (like not as in runway cause I'm VERY short) but I don't think thats allowed.....HELP!!! Would it be a good idea??? Oh and for y'all out there, you can bake a really fancy cake, assemble a pc or guitar too, and you could also make a mini house with a real floor plan and everything.That would be pretty cool. I need an idea too, I'm going into the last year of MYP and I have ONE more day to figure out what I am going to do! My interests ly in music and composing music and lyrics. I have an interest in writing and attempted to write a book but failed. I dropped film class so I could do music but I am really interested in the art of film too, I was thinking maybe I could make a movie advertising a touristic area or a movie making people aware of global warming and that we are the last generation. But some of my friends did that for their mini project and I don't want to seem like I am steeling ideas. HELP

I'm also in 8th grade and I only have a few weeks to decide. It is so hard to decide?! Me and my friend wanted to do a music video together since we had already done one this summer (of course this one would be a bit more advanced) but it turned out we can't work in pairs or in a group .

Well if you are into photography do this. Get a camera ( this is if you have a couple months to do it ) and take a picture of your back yard or a pretty landscape everyday for a couple months, showing like Fall, and Winter, rain, snow, heat, and wind. Put it in a slide show and wallah! All you have to do is basically take your interests and combine them and make it so it helps others. Mine is awesome. I'm not telling cause youll steal my idea. Lol

topics are piece of cake actually, it's the AIMS, AOI, 3000 words ESSAY, and other junks that make it complicated, confusing, etc.

I would just say to do whatever you feel most interests you. I myself made a trench coat out of duct tape, one of my friends made a bike with skis instead of wheels. Whatever interests you, that is what you should do.
