It helps you determine the measurement of certain things; things like buildings, rivers, machinery and even the angle of where the ball goes/should go when you play billiards. :)

When you climb a stair case you are going up the hypotenuse of a right triangle designed to give you a particular rise for a particular horizontal space available.
When you look at a clock the angle of the hands tell you the time.

Quite a lot actually. We need to be able to break things down into simple answers so we use trig to do that without even thinking about it.

The application of these things in your daily life will be what you make them be. Some people find they get along just fine without every having a math-related thought (even to the extent of ignoring money and speed limits).

Most people run across these concepts, but they don't think about them in math terms. We walk or drive in straight lines, we listen to the weather man tell us the probability of rain, we toss things expecting they will follow a roughly parabolic arc, and we pretty much know immediately what to do when someone tells us to turn 90 degrees right or left.
