To develop a hypothesis I would recommend and if and then relationship. By if and then relationship what I mean is that first identify the phenomenon and then the result of the phenomenon. Once you know both then you can make the hypothesis with if and then relationship. You can state if phenomenon happens then so and such results are observed.
