An egg floats in salt water because salt water is more dense than water straight from the tap. The greater buoyancy allows the egg to float in the salt water, provided it is salty enough. In order for something to float, the buoyant force has to greater than or equal to the weight of the object. The buoyant force is equal to the weight of the liquid that is displaced by the object. To figure out the weight of the water that is displaced, you multiply the density of the water by the volume and then multiply that by gravity. The density of fresh water is less than salt water; therefore the weight of the water displaced will be greater in the case of the salt water, resulting in a greater buoyant force. The more salt that is present in the water the more buoyant an object becomes. Salt water has more particles with which to hold up the egg. This is because rather than floating and taking up space, the salt dissolves into ions which are attracted to the water molecules and bind very tightly to them, packing more matter into the space. The mass of the ordinary water consists of the mass of the hydrogen and oxygen that it contains. Salt water has the additional mass of the sodium and chlorine atoms that dissolve into the water. To test this in an experiment, fill up two glasses with fresh water. Add six tablespoons to one of the glasses and place an egg in each cup. The same principle applies when people are swimming in oceans or salt water lakes. The average person sinks in fresh water but will easily float in salt water. The Dead Sea for example is 33% salt by mass.

The egg floats because of density in water.to add density in the water add salt or sugar.if you have only tap water then the egg won't float cause there is no density in th water.Salt would make your egg float the highest because it has the highest density.

A lot of experiments shows that egg floats in salty water. The reason for this is that egg is denser then water, but when the the water becomes salty the weight of egg becomes lesser than that of water which makes them to float in water. Details

Because salt makes the egg lighter

The project egg floatation in salt water concludes that a body having less density than water can floats in water. When salt is added to water egg floats in it Since the density of water increases when salt is mixed in it.

Because the salt adds to the waters density, giving it a higher dinsity rate than the egg, therefore making the egg lighter than the water, and floating to the top.

Because the density is bigger in the water than in the egg.

Salt added in water makes water more denser than egg, increase in density of water after adding salt makes an egg float.
