This is the question of physics and mathematics.
Working:

Magnitude = (x^2 + y^2)^.5
  = (27.0^2 + 42.0^2)^.5
  = (729 + 1764)^.5
  = 3(277)^.5
  = 49.929 units   (ANS)
direction:
theta = Tan^-1(y/x) = Sin^-1(Y/Magnitude)
  = Tan^-1(42.0/27.0) = Sin^-1 (42.0/3(277)^.5)
  = 57.264 = 57.264     (ANS)

Magnitude=root(x2+y2)
  =root(272+422)
  =49.92
direction of this vector = unit vector=(27i +42j)/49.92
  =0.54i+0.841j
