A Drug Counselor is a person who is responsible for counseling of drug and substance abusers. They are in high demand these days as the number of substance abusers is also on the rise. They normally find jobs in hospitals, government programs and most of them practice privately.
Most of the states require a master's degree in order to become a licensed drug counselor. So you would need to complete 18 years of education which includes, school, college and university education. Then you would have to apply for license in the state you want to practice or work in.
Most of the counselors go for an MA Degree in Psychology. However, I would recommend you to get information on your own state's requirements.
