In this equation, x and y may take on any of an infinite number of values. For each value of x, there will be only one value of y that will satisfy the equation.

You can find one of the values of (x, y) that will satisfy the equation by choosing y=0. When you do that, you find
  2x -3*0 = -4
  2x = -4
  x = -4/2
  x = -2
(x, y) = (-2, 0) will satisfy the equation.
