  • Visit the Duke TIP UGA blog

This blog is a great place for students to stay connected with one another. Many past students of Duke TIP UGA, or Tipsters as they are known, keep in touch with their new friends via this blog. Also, many students who are planning on returning to Duke TIP UGA, or who are going to go for the first time, will check out this blog in order to keep up to date with what's been happening at Duke TIP UGA. The blog can be found at: http://tipatuga.blogspot.com/.

  • Facebook, Twitter and MySpace

Social networking sites provide another brilliant way for new and past students alike to get in touch with one another. Official pages for the UGA Duke TIP are on most social networking sites, so whether you're a Tweeter or a Booker, you can get connected to lots of new people.

  • What is the Duke TIP at UGA?

The University of Georgia, UGA, runs special programs throughout the year for academically talented students. These are known as TIPs - Talent Identification Programs. These programs are designed to challenge students academically, and to introduce them to topics and subject areas which they may not be exposed to otherwise. There are two types of TIP - the Scholar Weekends and the Academic Adventures.

  • Scholar Weekends

Scholar Weekends are programs for children in the eighth grade up to children in the 11th grade. They last for the entire weekend (although students can stay for the day only if they so wish) and allow children to interact and build relationships with equally talented peers. Courses on offer during scholar weekends include politics, technology, writing, media, and science courses.

  • Academic Adventures

Academic Adventure programs are available for fourth and fifth grade students. These last for only one day, rather than the whole weekend, and include courses in areas such as art, writing, science, medicine and media.
