"Sponsorship" isn't widely widely available, but if it is financial assistance that you need, there are a number of scholarships which you can apply for.
Unfortunately, not just anyone can get a scholarship. There are a lot of different conditions and hoops to jump through in order to qualify.
Here's a guide to help you fund your studies at the university of makerere in Uganda
- Most scholarships are only available to students with excellent grades
- Some are course specific, which means students applying for courses where the skills are in high demand in the work place may be encouraged to do so with financial assistance. You would need to find out if there is anything specific to IT (I couldn't find anything)
- Other scholarships may be available for Ugandans, but at Universities overseas. This is the most common form of assistance available, as many African Universities have ties with institutions overseas (particularly in England).
There are a few websites that have a host of information on the scholarships available such as Scholars4Dev and Advance-Africa which are good resources.
If you are completely set on studying IT at Makerere, then I would strongly recommend you contact them directly as I am sure they will be able to advise on what help is available to you.
