Criteria
  • The basic criteria for LIC agent's job is that you must be 18 years of age and must have completed your twelfth standard examination.
  • There are many institutions that provide training for insurance.
  • As insurance has become a necessary part of life, it has become a sunshine industry.
  • It has become a lucrative career choice for many people.
Exam Details

  • For becoming a LIC agent, you need to complete training period of 100 hours from any LIC branch nearest to your location.
  • You need to visit the branch and meet with the Developmental Officer (DO). The DO will conduct an informal interview to test if you are a suitable candidate for LIC.
  • If he is satisfied with the interview, he will ask you to undergo insurance training which will be given by competent LIC staff.
  • Once you complete the training, you can give the pre-licensing exam which is conducted by IRDA i.e. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority.
  • You can give this exam as per your convenience. You will be given insurance license if you pass this exam.
Exam Fees
  • The LIC examination fee is very nominal. You just have to pay Rs. 50 for the examination along with other documentation.
  • The other documentation includes a filled examination form, 2 passport size photographs, photocopy of your photo id such as driver's license, passport, residential proof like electricity bill or telephone bill and your degree certificate of the last exam passed.
Requirement
  • It's important for a LIC agent to be self motivated.
  • He must possess excellent communication skills and convincing power.
Benefits
  • LIC is beneficial for all individuals; however, it takes some convincing to make people realize the importance of LIC. This job can also be done part time if you already have a full-time job.
  • A LIC agent gets excellent commission for every policy made.

Contact any LIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, you can find them nearest LIC branches at you r town. They will help you.
There will be training programme of that company, after which you may appear for the examinations held by IRDA. After passing this exam, you have to apply license.then become the eligible agent of that company. This job will be in nature of Commision Agent and it would enable you to manage your timing as per your preference.

I suggest you contact a Development Officer of you near by LIC Branch. The Branch Manager will conduct an interview, and if found suitable, you will be sent to training at Divisional/Agency Training Centre.

The training is for 100 hours and covers all aspects of Life Insurance Business. After successful completion of training you will have sit for Pre-Licencing examination conducted by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). After successful completion of the examination you will awarded a Licence by the IRDA to work as an insurance agent.
