Mertensia Virginica, translating into Virginia Bluebell, is the name of an ephemeral plant from the Boraginaceae (think: forget-me-nots) family. They commence growing as a pink bud, then turn into a lovely sky-blue shade shaped like a bell. They're also native in eastern North America, hence their name.
