First you have to ask where the kid got the gun? If he got it from his parents, they should be arrested for letting the kid have access to their weapons. After all, they do have gun safes. These other kids that heard him say these things earlier should have reported it to the school authorities or the Police as soon as they heard it. Don't let the kids have any access to weapons and this stuff will stop!

I always kept mine locked in a safe. I taught my kids how to use them but never when I wasn't around.

Very few of the kids that have been involved in school shootings were taught firearm handling by their parents.

And quite honestly, very few criminals who use firearms were taught safety skills - or take the time to practice. If they did, there would be more deaths at these crimes.

However Rooster said it all! I'm so agree.

Also i don't think it has something to do with an overall madness.

Important factors:

-The main reason of the shooting

-How he got the gun from the first place

-He bought it, stole it, or got it from house

-The motivation is the most important thing in these matters.

It's not always about the "self madness" but the treat of others.

-A child that get abused in home, will be guided to empty his anger by doing something angry, the gun would be nice.

-A child that been ignored by so many people, he need to show himself somehow & he/she seen examples how fast it come coverage on TV as well.

-A child that bee told he's useless & can't do anything, he wants to prove he can do something & will be guided to this cause the gun fear others & gives him the power & confident, the key of pressuring others & playing everyone in any way he wants.

-Sometimes people hand over the gun by so many life's pressures, a teenage boy/girl can have so many pressures & stresses of their lives & future as well, a high pressure can makes anyone to do things that they might not want it but they just want to get this feeling out & do something.

-It could be a very expected matter as well, since adults doing so many violence & huge part of some news would be violence, murder & scandals. It will effect the teenager's minds as well throughout the years.

-If it be black & white story ? It's not their fault, they been brainwashed & grown by adults stupid games, so of course we need to expect these things everyday.

(it could be other reasons as well) the reason is important.

An action will face a reaction. We need to heal the core of the behaviors, treats, & communications. Then these things will be less.

also another general option would be to make sure the gun is staying away from teenagers, no selling gun to teenagers either.
