I was ripped off.

When I was six I was chosen to plant a pussy willow tree in the playground. My teacher said that when I grew up I'd be able to come back and see the tree I'd planted.

I never forgot that and decades later I went back to see it. And it wasn't there. They'd knocked it down to build a new classroom. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

Rather comically, the Blurtit software found some "bad language" in that answer and refused to let me post it. See if you can find the naughty word. >:-)

The high school my husband and I met at is only a half mile from my house. We see it all the time. My kids went there too.

I know that the year we graduated was the last year that we had "open" campus for lunch. Which means you could leave campus at lunch. Yeah, well sometimes we didn't go back after lunch. They also got rid of "senior parking". They had a parking lot the staff and the seniors could use. It was closer to classes, and very convenient. Some of the buildings are now named after teachers I had who have since passed. We also had artificial turf put in our football field.

I went and did a Google Earth for all of my schools that I attended, they're all gone, every last one.

Well you gotta figure, I'm nearly 60 and a few of those schools were older when I went to them. A couple of them were planned to be combined when I attended classes at them, so it's not a real surprise.

I went to an American high school in Rome. One thing that made it stand out from normal Italian schools was the fact we always had a police car parked outside because it was considered a "sensitive location" in terms of bomb threats and stuff.

I Google Earthed the school the other day, and noticed they had upgraded the police presence to well-armed military personnel. A sign of the times!

Mine has about doubled in size. They finally put a wood floor in the dance building, (When I went it was concrete and it really hurt when you fell! I was actually knocked unconscious when someone tripped me and I fell and hit my head.)

There are now two gyms. One for gym class and one for competition, complete with state of the art lighting and sound. (Great intimidating the competition.) Our football field was recently completely redone. It was purchased from a college that ended their football program in the 1950s. They restarted the program about two years ago. When they made a deal with the school board and they renovated the football field.

The academic programs have advanced as well. When I graduated we had AP and Honors classes, but now there are two other more advanced programs. The International Baccalaureate and another one I don't know the name of. With the IB program you go into college with you enter as a sophmore instead of a freshman, The second program you graduate high school with an Associate's Degree.
