1. Well, if you make a kettle out of metal you can boil water. If you made it out of plastic then the kettle would have insufficient mettle to handle the heat and you'd end up with water everywhere.

2. Without Metal we'd probably still be listening to The Seekers, or The Weavers, or *gasp* Bing Crosby.

3. And if there were no metal in the world there would be no gold so that Forth Knox would have to be used for storing cookies instead of the US gold reserves. And that's just as it should be, because if they were to store gold in wooden vaults (no steel to build strong rooms) every bad guy and his floozie would just wander in and help themselves.

On the other hand it would be all bad. After all, if there were no metal there'd be no guns, and the NRA would have to focus on archery. I can hear their slogan now: "Arrows don't kill people; people kill people."

Fort Knox stores the gold. Fort Worth has the stockyards.

It's always fun when you play with our words---and subsequently our minds.

@Blu. Ouch! It's what we geezers call a "seniors' moment" and what whippersnappers call a brain fart. Thanks for pointing it out.

@Tom: Thanks for that. I just indulge. I don't expect anybody actually to read the rubbish.
