The important takeaway is that his mother Mary Ball Washington is an ancestor in my family tree.
The family held some distinction in England and was granted land by Henry VIII. Much of the family’s wealth was lost during the Puritan revolution. They were moderately prosperous in the "middling class."
Like cousin George, we too are "middling class."
