My friends, best way to achieve how many liters, use the calc:
Length x width x height/1000 = ? Litres
then:
40cmx20cmx20cm/1000=16 litres

About first answer, well.....wow.

400 mm x 200 mm x 200 mm = 400 x 200 x 200 = 16,000,000 mm3
....
Since 1 L = 1 dm3 = 1000 cm3 = 1,000,000 mm3
....
Therefore,
The tank fits 16 litres of water

You have asked for the solution of a mathematical problem which requires the measurement analysis. To solve the problem first thing you require to know is the amount of liters in the dimensional frame. You should know that how much space would a liter of water would take. According to my information, a litre of water fills in the space of 1 cubic centimeter (check the information for the validity). The dimensions of the tank are given in terms of millimeters.

First we should convert the units in a single frame. It would be easy to convert the units of tank into the centimeter from the millimeter. The new units give us the measurement of tank as 40cm x 20cm x 20 cm. Now let us calculate the area of the tank. Area of the tank in this case would be equal to length x width x height. By multiplying all the terms, we get the area as 16000 cubic centimeters. As we know that one litre of water occupies the space of one cubic centimeter so 16000 litres of water can be stored in a tank measuring 400mm x 200mm x 200mm according to the calculation.
