Well, the answer to this question will be subjective depending on what you consider better. Do we have more stuff and more access to stuff, absolutely. Do we have better health care? Sure in some areas, but what effect has industrial pollution contributed to new disease? Do we have new technology? Absolutely, but at what cost?
Don't get me wrong, while life may have been simpler in the past, it had its own share of troubles.
Personally, I don't think we have it better than our forefathers, its the same difference. :)
