The only remaining of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest pyramid in Egypt. Built for the Egyptian pharoah Khufu, or Cheops, in approximately two thousand five hundred and fifty BC, the Great Pyramid of Giza is sometimes called Khufu's Pyramid or the Pyramid of Cheop. The Great Pyramid of Giza took approximately twenty years to build, with one hundred thousand slaves, and is not only the largest but also the oldest pyramid standing on the Giza Plateau just outside of Cairo, Egypt. The Great Pyramid reaches a height of four hundred and eighty-two feet and the base of the pyramid is seven hundred and fifty-four feet, spanning thirteen acres. From the mere size and grandeur of this pyramid, it is believed that King Cheops, or Pharoah Khufu, was a very well respected and wealthy man. Pharoah Khufu was also the first person to be mummified.
