Multiplication is like addition because you are adding the same number the amount of times that you are multiplying it by the other number. Let's say you are multiplying 3 and 2. That is 3 times 2, or 3 x 2. Adding the number 3 a total of two times, gives you the answer. You add the number 3 to the number 3, and that is the number three 2 times, or 3 times 2. The answer is 6.

It is just like adding because when you add it gets to a bigger number and when you multiply it get to a bigger number. It is not different from adding.
