4.0 is the highest grade point average for normal, standard classes. HOWEVER, if in high school you take Advanced Placement courses, they are based on a scale where a 6.0 is the maximum number of points possible. Therefore, it could be possible to achieve a 6.0 if you took all AP classes and received 100% in each. If not, 4.0 is the highest standard GPA.
