You can write it as 739,652 or you can also write it as 739 652. Here 739 are in thousand period and 652 is shown as one period.

FUNNY!  I have twins and they came home today with the exact same question.  The part that confused me most is the word "period".  I am in my forties so it has a bit since I took math.  I don't recall that phrase related to number placement.  I don't even find the term in their math book.  How do I explain the logic to 9 year olds?  I can give them the answer but they will need to get when the question is not exactly the same

This is so funny, but I was stumped on this question also.  I looked at the question again after reading this and 739,652 does make since, now seeing it was in a riddle formed question.  I wonder am I smarter than a 5th grader?...lol

LOL. My son came home today with this exact same question for a challenge problem! I was guessing 739,652. We'll see. Going with that.
