In a number pattern poem, mathematical patterns are used in the poem. There are two such types of poems, namely diamante and cinquain. A cinquain is a five line poem. Line 1 has one word in it, line 2 has 2 words, line 3 has 3 words, line 4 has 4 words, and line 5 again has 1 word that sums up the whole poem. A diamante, on the other hand, is a seven line poem, shaped like a diamond. Line 1 has 1 word, line 2 has 2 words, line 3 has 3 words, line 4 has 4 words, line 5 has 3 words, line 6 has 2 words, and line 7 has 1 word that contrasts with line 1.
