There is very little that scares the average person more than speaking in public. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to give a speech or simply a short introduction, it's best to keep things simple and speak clearly so everyone can understand what you have to say.

If you have to give a quick speech for your classmates and teachers, be short and to the point. Give them your age, birthplace, and then tell them something about yourself that makes you unique. If you have an amusing story about yourself now is the time to tell it. Speak in a clear voice so everyone can hear you and speak slowly so all of your words don't sound jumbled together.

If you know you're going to be speaking to a group ahead of time, use some of that time to practice if you are scared of speaking in public. Record yourself and listen to it to make sure you sound the way you want to. Practice in front of a mirror to make sure you are not making any nervous actions with your body that would distract from what you have to say. Try to keep eye contact with someone at all times and move your eyes from person to person to help keep them interested in what you are saying.

Public speaking can actually be fun if you can relax and enjoy the moment. You have one moment in time when you have the attention of a group of people, so you should use it to your full advantage. People have a great deal of respect for someone who can speak without fear in public so it's a perfect way to make new friends.

Take full advantage of your opportunity and use it to your advantage.
