Prior to the terrorist attack, the Twin Towers held no importance to average Americans.  It was a commerce building that just happened to be prominent on the skyline of New York City.  Nothing more.  But the attack on the Twin Towers placed the name and appearance of the site as it was before the attack and during the attack as an embedded picture on the brains of average Americans.  It stands as a symbol that "We must never let that kind of attack happen again,  .... Hmmmmm that reminds me of the same determination that happened after Dec 7, 1941, Hawaii, Pearl Harbor.   What a reminder that we humans cannot always prevent tragedy.  Aside from this, I so hope that such a reminder to 'never let this happen again' does not become a forgotten something...because the Holocaust of Nazi Germany must never happen again.
