Donna Faske commonly known as Donna Karan, is a famous American fashion designer. She started working at a very young age for Liz Claiborne. Her childhood was customised as a potential fashion designer as her mother was a showroom model and her step father was an active suit maker, these were also the factors which would later influence her to take up the field of fashion.

In the 1970s she got a job as an intern with Anne Klein, through her mother's connections. By the year 1971 she gained promotion to associate designer. Later on by the year 1974 when Anne Klein died, Takihyo Corporation based in Japan became the new owner of Karan. Later on collectively with her earlier classmate and friend Louis Dell'Ollio became the head designer of the corporation.
