What are some of the most important, iconic, and/or beautiful scientific images?

I guess everything around us could be considered science: Nature, technology, every organism on this planet.

Here are some pretty interesting images of science at work:

Sky and stars and stuff (looks like it would make a nice desktop background)

Fractal bacteria patterns:

European airspace coming back to life after a volcanic eruption grounded all flights (that's a 2 for 1: Power of nature vs scientific technology of man for ya!)

Pretty iconic. We almost take photos like this for granted. Imagine what it must have been like for the first astronauts setting foot on the moon!

Iconic but hardly beautiful, one of the worst things that scientific knowledge has resulted in.
