We need it to survive. It provides light, heat and allows plants to grow. If the plants didn't grow, animals couldn't eat, and then we couldn't eat. In terms of heat, if the sun wasn't there, Earth would be completely frozen. Also, if the sun wasn't there, the Earth wouldn't have any orbit and we'd probably just be floating around in space. Basically without the sun we would freeze to death in seconds and everything on earth needs the sun to survive, including animals and humans especially
