Builds discipline and creates the habit of doing homework.

If you travel to lets say, SE Asia, 6 year olds are already beginning to do algebra where the 6 year olds here in America are coloring inside of coloring books.

Also, are you telling me Samsung and Sony aren't major brands? Toyota? Honda? Nissan? Hyundai? Doing better than these lame "American" cars.

As for Chinese Brands, they have a population of billions of people. 4 times more than the U.S. Therefore they don't need to be in the U.S, market for YOU to know about. Baidu and Huawei are huge powerhouse companies.

China is also ranked as one of the highest producers of scientific papers.

My advice to you is that you need to travel more. =D

I've never been outside of the US. I want to go somewhere else, like to go live with the Aboriginal Australians for a while. I am also interested in visiting Japan, Britain, and Canada, but mostly Australia and Japan. Every person I've asked who used to live somewhere else (I've only asked two, but one has lived in almost half a dozen different countries) has told me that they prefer other countries to the US.

Really? The only people who have actually told me so either lack a college education, a solid career, or a spouse. Which also means that they're stuck in this country and have to move to the boonies or somewhere along the bible belt.. That's the case with most of the "Am leavin communist Kalifornia" crowd.

Anyway, the US is HUMONGOUS! If you can't find place you enjoy, you're one picky person. I'd skip Britain, and I've been up and down that whole place. Japan is extremely fun... for like a month TOPS. Okay, maybe 2 months then all the excitement boils down. Canada, or rather the cities in Canada worth going to is pretty much Seattle, Portland, and Boston combined but somewhat colder.

The U.S has more than enough places to keep me occupied. Hot, swampy climate: Austin, Texas Coldish Climate: Seattle, Washington Extremely cold climate: Boston, Massachusetts Chilly, Foggy Climate: San Francisco, California Perfect Climate: Most of Silicon Valley; San Luis Obispo, California; Marin, California

In my opinion I believe it helps narrow down what a child's strengths and weaknesses will be academically going into the future which in turn will help with the child's development in finding a suitable study for later in life.

Giving homework to young children helps them exercise their minds so they can grow faster and stronger.  It also helps prepare them by developing the self-discipline they will need in high school and later on in life.

At that age the homework shouldn't take them more the 15 minutes to do. It is a way for parents to know what their kids are doing, as well as developing the habit of doing homework.

Probably nothing at this age other than getting them used to doing homework in the grades to come, and may be more of a marker to see what these kids are retaining nowadays
