It's not your childs fault just a difference in brain function. I have one family member who felt ashamed at being dyslexic and so struggled through school. However, my brothers friend had dyslexia and he got added tutition and went to university and is now a successful entrepreneur.  So the best approach is the latter.

Once upon a time many children went through school struggling with their work and falling behind because of dyslexia,  I have two elderly neighbours who come to me to write letters and fill out forms because they were overlooked at school and just forgotten.  Your child isn't stupid their brain just processes  things differently and they can learn to overcome that.

Yes it will.  I would try to keep it quiet & don't tell the other moms about it, you know how they love to gossip!!!

Well, there are a lot of cases where parents know their kids are dyslexic, but don't label them as that. You know what happens when you do that? They fall behind. They don't learn properly.

It's better to call attention to their disability and work with it than to pretend as if it doesn't exist.

Honestly I think you should label your child as dyslexic even if it hurts. It's better than them being confused their entire life.

Don't delay! Do some research and find out good schools where your child will get proper help and environment of getting better everyday. Do not rush with your decision. Visit schools and talk to the teachers before selecting one.

Do check http://www.winstonprep.edu/

My Niece is studying there and we all are quite satisfied with her progress.

Remember your child is just a kid. He doesn't know what's wrong with him, he doesn't know why he doesn't get certain things, that's why it's better if you tell him that.

Best,
