An equation in exponential form is when its written with an exponent. Example... 82 = 64 (82 is the same as 8x8 .) If it was a logarithmic equation and you were converting it to an exponential form, it would be log8 64=2 which in exponential form would be 82 =64. I hope this helps.

Exponential form is often requested for the prime factorization of a number.

Example
288 = 2*2*2*2*2*3*3
When this is put into exponential form, each of the factors is written with an appropriate exponent.
288 = 25*32

Exponential form is sometimes requested when expanding a multi-digit number. The idea is to help a student understand place value. In this form, the place value multiplier for a given digit is shown as the number base with an appropriate exponent.

Example
5342.71 = 5*103 + 3*102 + 4*101 + 2*100 + 7*10-1 + 1*10-2
