They're both gametes so that means they carry half the amount of chromosomes as normal somatic cells.

In humans, that means each gamete contains 23 chromosomes. Also, they're both produced through meiosis and help create offspring.

Ova begin to be produced while the ovaries are still in the fetus. Sperm begin to be produced and mature during puberty.

Sperm are produce by males while ova is by females.. When they meet.. They can become embryo.. And in 9 months a new born baby..
