The volume of a solid is the space it takes up. In a rectangular prism, that would be its surface area (width X height) multiplied by its depth. A way to calculate volume is to place an object in a measured container of water and see how much the water is displaced.

When the ball is rolling off the table the ball currently has only Kinetic Energy (KE=1/2*mass*velocity^2). When it is falling of the table it both potential energy(PE=mass*gravity*height) and kinetic energy.
