Walter A Shewhart was born on 18th March, 1981 in New Canton, United States of America. He has done major contribution in the field of mathematics and process modeling. Shewhart developed the PDCA cycle and W. Edwards Deming made it famous therefore, Plan Do Check Act cycle is also known as Shewhart cycle or Deming cycle. The PDCA cycle is incorporated into the development process and it helps project manager in making decision. This process model provides feedback for continual improvement.

The four elements of PDCA cycle are:
Plan: Classify the current issues or problems existing in the project, find out the reason for having problems then establish the data and measures to be collected to resolve the issues.
Do: Gather data and based on the pointed issues, derive graphical representations to better illustrate the data trends.
Check: Review the graphs, data, and other graphical representation to have an idea of the problems and the performance towards their resolutions.
Act: State the results, make suggestions for improvement, and discover new issues and problems.
With growth of other system components, the key problems for software development relate to resources and expenses, progress and schedule, and the quality of the temporary and final products.
