If they do not understand you then you cannot do business with them. If you cannot make yourself understood by the client then you are likely not to understand what the customer is saying either.
Our request to Dell only last Friday for an engineer's visit was cancelled the same day (within an hour by phone and email) as we resolved the sticky key ourselves on the machine not yet a month old.
Tuesday morning someone came to collect the laptop for Dell. The next day the engineer phoned to say he was up the road and coming to repair the laptop - which would have been taken away by the man the day before! Even got another call about an engineer coming out. This is all because they cannot communicate. We still do not know if they have refunded the money we paid in advance like they said they would. Hope that this has proved the importance of being able to understand speech. It also cost us about £20 on phone calls hanging on and on.
This is why people stop using businesses.
