The name given to the study of speech sounds or spoken language can vary really:
Phonetics is the study of sounds humans make in order to communicate through language (for example how these sounds are produced, classified, and represented)
Phonology is the study of how those sounds are used as part of language.
Linguistics is the over-arching category which these subjects fall into.
