The following are the four styles of communication:
Assertive: It is simply a form of natural expression of one's thoughts and ideas. It creates a win win situation whereby we are able to communicate our needs fully. It is the tell style.
Aggressive: This is when people try to manipulate others by using intimidation and control. It is the Sell style, and is used when a person only wants his needs to be fulfilled.
Passive: This is based on compliance with others. And is usually adopted to avoid confrontation. It is the confirm style.
Passive-aggressive: This style adopts confrontation avoidance tactics but even then tries to manipulate others. This is the major cause of office politics and "behind the back" tactics.
