The position of a number on a number line shows how great or small it is. The numbers on the right are greater than the numbers on the left. For example, if 9 is greater than 4, 9 would be located on the right side of 4 on a number line. Similarly, if -10 is smaller than 2, it would be located on the left side of 2 on a number line.
