You have to decide what you want to write about before you can create a thesis statement. Say you want to discuss symbolism in the story, or the author's use of metaphor, allegory, alliteration, or color, you would then create a sentence describing what you plan to discuss. All a thesis statement is, is a general statement to introduce the topic you are planning to discuss in your paper.
