How Do You Divide Regions Into Equal Parts?

Suppose theres a string of length 20cm/inches and you want to divide it into 5 equal parts. What you do is divide the total length by the number of parts you want to divide the string. That is to say:
   20/5=4cm or inches
so what you get here is that each equal part is of length 4cm or inches.
 
the process is similar for areas and volumes too. The only difference is that in area its cm square
and for the volume its cm cube.
