Much more is taught in the classroom than shows up in a curriculum outline. That is not a bad thing. (There is no way around it, in fact.)
One would hope that a teacher who shows their own social and political views would encourage students to do likewise. Students need to be around adults who model engaged citizenship. One would hope such a teacher would offer many opportunities for students to test their views against real-world scenarios and problems.
