Aims are usually more global - they are the things you want to happen as a result of your activities, work etc. Objectives are usually more short term and specific - you use your objectives to help you fulfil your aims. Mager explains the importance of having clear written objectives to ensure that aims are achieved - you can get a good overview of this topic here.
