The answer is 72. The way I worked this out is by dividing 2400 by 100. This will give you 1%. Do remember that 1% means that if you multiply the number by 100, you will be given 100%. Hence, 24 multiplied by 100 is 2400, giving us 100%.

This is a great way of starting any calculation, as then you will have a basis to continue the calculation. You will simply have to multiply the 1% figure by how many percentage figures you want. In this instance, you will be able to find the percentage with ease as you only have to multiply 24 by 3. This gives you 35 of 2400; which is 72.

  • Using your head
What I outlined above is the best way you can find out percentages by your using your brain power. It's a great way to find out percentages if you are using full percentages, as it's as simple as dividing and multiplying numbers.

Even if you have percentages that are not integers you can still perform the equation. If you are trying to find 2.5% of the number above, you can still do it by multiplying 24 by 2.5. If it gets a little complicated and you're still using your head, you can just use a pen and paper to write down the numbers so you don't forget.
  • Using a calculator
Using a calculator makes things so much easier. You can use the same formula as above, but you will be able to find complicated percentages like 2.456% of a number. Using a calculator is not always allowed if you are doing a maths exam, though, so do remember that.

You can also use Google, too. Just type in the equation and Google will provide you with the answer just like a calculator does.
