Perspective? What difference that a perspective makes sense to me? It is either empirically supported, or some assertive nonsense. With the small exception of fringe science working it's way toward the core.
Sounds as if you took a wrong turn and meant to land in social science instead of science.

A long-term (historical) perspective makes the most sense to me. Using only short-term considerations, it is all too easy to make decisions that will have severely negative consequences over the long term.
