The 18 months I spent in Nam was the longest war in American History. I was there for an eternity.
I agree the war on Drugs...but we have a far greater battle going on in this country today and that is the battle to maintain our own values that have gotten us to be such a great nation, I can go on and on but the culprit in my opinion is Liberalism...the biggest battle that should be the concern of Americans today.
I would have to go with the war on communism.
My guess says it is the war on communism.
The war on Drugs and alcohol! Prohibition started the war with the self-righteous attitude that grown people could not take care of themselves. It could have conceptually been instigated by the sudden epiphany that with the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms that the regulation of such material would be a great source of hidden revenue for the government! This taken in consideration that this department is regulated by the Treasury Department! Of course at this time Beer was considered part of a healthy diet and most Americans were drinking it at breakfast and started whiskey at lunch! This was also the beginning of the coffee push or the stimulant craze and in a round-about-sense perhaps the current problem with Meth-amphetamines. Of course they never associated the Depression with any of these problems!
If we are speaking of an actual army against army conflict then Viet Nam came in a close second! Again another Governmental Brain Storm session on man, we can really accomplish something here!
Written or unwritten. I would say civil war (whether here or anyplace on the earth). Civil war is waged daily not with arms(physical) but with words the sword that cuts deeper than any physical weapon...
Ok Bickle.....we give. So, what is the longest war in American History? My guess would be...the war between..... Coke and pepsi? ;o)
I say the longest war, and we are currently losing is the war on Stupidity.
War on drugs
