The Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidery which is 70 metres long and tells the story of the Norman invasion of England in 1066.  William Duke of Normandy (William the Conqueror) defeated Harrold (Earl of Wessex) leader of the Saxons.  Harrold died from being shot through the eye with an arrow. Ewwwww!

Nice answer - and good that you correctly identified it as an embroidery - it is not a tapestry in the normal sense of the word.
