I read a lot of books, usually on the train and bus on the way to work, so I read maybe twelve or thirteen books last month. I prefer actual books, but I do have an eReader app on my tablet because of the number of classic books you can download for free because of expired copyright.

Maybe one or two of the books I read last month were digital.

I read three books last month - and they were all hard print.  I read, How to Speed Read (that took me a long time!) WOOL - which is a sort of sci-fi novel and The Casual Vacancy - an novel for adults by J.K Rowling (of Harry Potter fame).

I have an Kindle Fire but use it as a tablet computer rather than read books on it.  I just love the feel of a 'proper book' . I get all of my books from the local library - I know they have an e-book service and maybe I'll take advantage.

I read A Tale Of Two Cities for the 5th time, some textbooks on high-school physics, the four books from Oxford's English language reference set, all in hard print and Bram Stoker's Dracula in ebook version.

As much as I love reading, I don't read books as much as I should. Writing takes up most of my time, as does exercising to keep healthy. I am currently reading the novel The Goldfinch by Donna Tarrt, but I started reading it over a month ago.

I've read and enjoyed both of Donna Tartt's previous novels, The Secret History and The Little Friend, so I knew it was a safe bet that I'd enjoy The Goldfinch as well.

I always read hard print copies, as I find e-books hard on my eyes, especially as I work at a laptop most of the day. I also believe that shelves of books around the house look a lot better than a single iPad propped up on a table!

Other novels I've read this year include The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach, and The Flame Alphabet by Ben Marcus, as I enjoy contemporary American literature and I studied Marcus during my master's degree, so was keen to read more by him.

I've also read Night Film by Marisha Pessl and The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton this year, having enjoyed their respective debut novels. It generally takes me 4-6 weeks to read a novel, I don't like reading books all in one go.

The debate between hard print books and e-books is an interesting one, and I found this PBS feature quite good on the subject:
