No. If you win, you get a trophy. If you lose, you learn to live with it and be happy for the winners. I find that the politically correct citizens are pushing kids towards great frustrations and let downs in real life when they become adults.
On a similar note, my god-daughter, who is 5 years old, just had a graduation ceremony, complete with cap and gown, for graduating from PRE-K. Are they crazy???? That, along with graduation ceremonies for graduating from kindergarten, elementary school, etc. Just takes away the special feelings of high school graduation.
Should an elementary school age child receive a trophy from their baseball team, whether they win or lose?
In this day and age far too many children are being sheltered from the actual facts of life. Yes it is nice to see everyone happy. However that is not the case in reality. Children need to be introduced to the process required to face and overcome failure and rejection. If they do not learn eventually they will fail as adults. As seen now there are too many adults failing to handle everyday day stress.
Personally, I believe unless you win first place that you shouldn't get a trophy. That being said, in today's society we reward children for everything! God forbid, we actually let a child know they're not perfect! Maybe if we did more of that... we wouldn't have this self indulgent younger generation.
It annoys me too no end. Everyone wins, don't want to hurt feelings.. How about birthday parties where everybody gets a gift bag.. WTH.
What do you have to look forward to when nothing is special and it's always your day. Winner gets trophy, the rest lost. Reality.
