I had never heard of these until last week, when a half-dozen or so suddenly appeared in my town.

Given that my town doesn't have a local library, due to it's nature as a tourist "resort" (most houses are vacation homes) ... I was curious what types of books were available.  I don't know if they choose not to compete with the local used-book stores - but the majority of books are college textbooks just a couple years old.  So still pretty much current, but too old for the college bookstores to buy back.

A handy resource for students, maybe - if they don't have access to the internet.  Or just prefer books.

I have a cousin that builds things, so I sent him the newspaper article from our paper that had about 30 different ones that people had built themselves so he could see what they were. We have all kinds of libraries in the city I live in but there are about 50 of these Little Libraries around the city.
