How do you find main points in the textbook and passage? Do you have to copy them from the textbook and passage? Or do you write them in your own words?

When looking through a textbook, you should try to distinguish what are examples/diagrams and what are definitions. Examples are helpful however definitions are usually the main points. So what I usually do is write down the definitions (try using your own words if possible, but if you can't then that's okay too as long as you are writing it down somehow) and if I think that topic is particularly difficult to understand, then I'd also include the examples and diagrams.

And what does exactly point mean in reading and writing terms mean? For example, when an instructor says, " I want you to go look for the main points in the book and/or passage."?

Well when an instructor says that, it usually means that they want you to get the overall message of the text which also usually means not too much detail. If you aren't sure, you should always ask your instructor.

Thank you so much and I will do that :-):-) And what does get the overall message mean on points in reading and writing terms. Please, if you don't mind, just want to understand and know what that means and please if you don't mind explain this to me in an easier and more simple way.
