No one at my school uses games, just social media. I want to get an Instagram/Musical.ly, and my dad promised a YEAR ago and never gave one to me. How to convince to get me one?

Why can't you get it yourself? If that sounded mean it wasn't supposed to be. :)

Talk to your dad when he's in a good mood. Get on the computer and bring up the app and show him what it's all about. Tell him that you will give him your password - as you should anyway - so he can go on the site and see what you've been doing.

His job is to protect you. With all the bullying that goes on in social media, he's probably a little freaked out. Talk to him about what you can do if someone starts to bully you on social media. Ask what he thinks.

Parenting when your child is a teenager is different than when they are little kids. He wants to keep you safe and protect you from the idiots that troll the social media sites and makes kids lives a living hell.  In addition, he may not know that much about Instagram so you wanting to show him the app and what interests you about it might do the trick.

When my son was 13, I signed him up for Facebook. I had his password and checked his account frequently. As he grew more trustworthy and I had checked out the other kids he was friends with, he got to have more freedom online.

I don't want my son to die just because some stupid moron is encouraging him to kill himself, yet this type of stuff happens all the time.  So talk to him. Good luck.
